Do you want to know the Author’s Purpose with a mnemonic called P.I.E?

1. Firstly, the P stands for persuade.

Authors can persuade you to change your opinion. For example, an author of a book can convince you to like dinosaurs.

2. Secondly, the I stands for information.

Authors can tell you about information like facts about giant squids.

3. Thirdly, the E stands for entertain.

Authors can entertain you by making funny stories. An example is the book about hungry caterpillars. It’s a funny story about a caterpillar who eats too much and gets sick.
