Classroom Management

Without strong classroom management, it is virtually impossible for learning to take place. That’s why I’ve adopted a Behavior Redirect Model that’s worked wonders for my 3rd Grade Mentor Teacher Amanda Kim and 3rd Grade Teacher Joyce Wallace.

Here’s how it works. If a student breaks a classroom rule, they receive a redirect and it is tracked on a sheet. I personally have a Student Dean who keeps track of the redirects.

If they are a second offender, they get “sidelined” where they work by themselves in the back of class to focus.

If the student is a third time offender, they receive a “Think-Sheet” and must complete it in another classroom.

If the student is a fourth-time offender, they must have the “Think-Sheet” signed by their parents and returned.

Students who receive 0 redirects get to participate in free-time which is held right before lunch.

After lunch, I reset all redirects and students who received redirects in the first-half of the day have the opportunity to improve their behavior to participate in free time at the end of the day.
