In my class, to master our ELA standards, we create songs in groups using an educational music app called Flocabulary.
To begin the lesson, a student spins this digital wheel with song genres: https://wheelofnames.com/
After the genre is picked, I play an instrumental beat from the selected genre and allow students to work cooperatively to create a song about our ELA topic for the week.
A student from the winning group then gets to record their song and edit it. After editing, we listen to it as a class and for review.
Below you can listen to a few of the songs we’ve created to help us learn and remember our ELA standards.
